If you're into good food in Portland OR, you know the work of Chef Vitaly Paley. For over 20 years, he's been defining and re-defining the culinary scene in a town that prides itself for growing and raising some of the best produce in the world and attracting and inspiring some of the best chefs around to cook it.

When the Provenance Hotel group and Chef Paley decided to team up to start a new restaurant on the ground floor of their Dossier Hotel in Downtown Portland, they asked us to help develop their brand identity and expression.

Named as a double nod to Paley’s grandmother and the City of Roses, Rosa Rosa serves up Italian and Mediterranean cuisine inspired by cultural and familial tradition in a decidedly non-traditional way—it’s a place where the food is enticing but never intimidating and the atmosphere forgoes ego to become smart yet lighthearted.

We created a system that extends from signage to menus to wall paper, using handcrafted and personalized details to show off the restaurant’s convivial and welcoming energy—rounding it out with a suite of playful illustrations and handwritten messaging.

A warm and eclectic identity sets Rosa Rosa apart from other high-end hotel restaurants by capturing it’s spontaneous and playful personality.
