Dottir
Envisioned as the perfect place to gather together, Dottir is the progeny of KEX Portland and Chef Ólafur Ágústsson. The KEX team came to us needing an identity for their ground floor restaurant/bar distinct enough to stand on its own while seamlessly integrating into the space and larger KEX brand.
Influenced by their natural ingredients and eclectic communal space, the resulting identity is textural and familiar – evoking intimate family style gatherings that make people feel at home.

A handwritten mark selected out of dozens and with just the right amount of imperfection gives the restaurant—named after the Icelandic word for daughter—a human touch, helping to personify it as its own presence in the KEX space.
Hints of deep, rich color married with lush floral photography creates a welcoming window into a natural world that feels both fresh and heritage — a reflection of their commitment to serving up the perfect balance of seasonal Portland fare with a Nordic flare.
