Well it's been almost six months in the making, but we can finally say that our new studio space is just about ready for visitors. About four months ago, we moved from our first digs into the newly renovated, and incredibly named, New New Crusher court, a little oasis of creativity at 25th and Sandy in NE Portland. It's the latest development by bad-ass developer Kevin Cavenaugh, who's making a name for himself with some very cool and out-there developments in the area.
We met Kevin a while back and planets aligned. We're feeling lucky they did, not just because we get to call the New New home, but we get to share a courtyard with some of the coolest neighbors a creative studio could hope for (Guerilla Development, Upper Metal Class' Project Object, Leeward Surf, Kate-Bingaman-Burt's Outlet, Pickathon, The Beauty Shop, and Half-Court Studios to name drop a few). There isn't a day that goes by that we don't pinch ourselves with how lucky we are to share space with such inspiring folks.
The space was a blank slate when we came, which meant we were able to design and build the interior from scratch. Everything from the exposed concrete wall to the conference room, to the lighting fixtures were designed and built by us. It took a while, but we learned a ton and are super happy with the results.
In January we were the first residents to move in. Since then, we've watched the Crusher Court evolve and eventually welcome each of its residents. If you're in the neighborhood, drop on by and grab a cold one with us in the courtyard. It's gonna be a rad summer.
